Who do we work for ?
Who benefits from a training ?
The training centre has been set up to be a link between classical surgery, endoscopic surgery and other novel techniques. It has been shown that endoscopic surgery is there for the sole benefit of the patients. During their stay at the centre the trainees will be immersed in :
- Practical endoscopic procedures in theatre. After the initial phase they will be allowed to perform endoscopic interventions, hysteroscopic and laparoscopic, under one to one supervision.
- Hands-on training in the lab: The latest models for in vitro training are available whenever the trainee has time to sit down and perform the prescribed exercises.
- Theoretical courses are given, tailored to the needs of the trainees on the subjects wanted.
- Strong emphasis is put on the economical consequences of endoscopic surgery in comparison with classical surgery.
- The risks of adhesion formation is discussed and compared with classical surgery and minimal endoscopic tissue handling, the risks of the pneumo peritoneum and the use adhesion barriers are conerstones of the way of thinking of the endoscopic surgeon.
- New techniques in both hysteroscopy and laparoscopy are taught, some in clinical trials, some based on previous clinical trials or historical comparisons.
TARGET GROUPS
- The junior registrars in training for initial immersion.
- The senior registrars interested to apply themselves to endoscopy both hysteroscopy and/or laparoscopy.
- The board registered gynaecologists, urologists and general surgeons wanting to acquaint themselves with the newest techniques.
Courses are tailored to the needs of the individual practitioner or groups of colleagues.
