Conference Objectives

The conference is conceived with the objective to give the practitioner an algorithm as how to deal with adnexal pathology in her or his practice.

The morning sessions deal with the possible medico legal consequences caused by the inadvertently operated malign tumors, followed by the evidence based situation on adnexal masses. A thorough differential diagnosis becomes imperative and the different aspects of vaginal ultrasound, CT scan and MRI are discussed to give guidance as what aspects of an adnexal tumor make a further referral of the patient necessary. The place of diagnostic laparoscopy has to be defined.

Common situations in the daily practice are discussed as to define the place of operative laparoscopy.

During the life surgery the surgeons will use different energy modes and discuss the treatment they choose for the particular patients with the audience. The last session deals with more specific situations: the laparoscopic final assessment of ovarian tumors, the cystectomy, treatment of ovarian accidents – torsion, cyst rupture- and the laparoscopic treatment of endometriomas.

Ample time for discussion is foreseen and the participants are invited to present their difficult cases so that these can be discussed by the panel of experts under the guidance of outstanding laparoscopists. For logistical reasons the participants who wish to present cases are invited to contact the organizers.

At the end of this thematic conference the participant should have a clear, updated view based on an algorithm of diagnostic and treatment modalities on how to treat adnexal pathology in her or his daily practice.
